Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement

The journal CMMS (Computer Methods in Materials Science) adheres to high ethical standards in scholarly publishing and follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics.

Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for:

  • ensuring a fair, unbiased, and timely peer review process,
  • evaluating manuscripts solely on their scientific merit, without discrimination,
  • maintaining the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts,
  • taking appropriate actions in cases of suspected misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication).

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations,
  • maintain confidentiality of the review process,
  • disclose any conflicts of interest,
  • identify relevant published work not cited by the authors,
  • report any suspicion of ethical misconduct.

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors must:

  • present accurate and original research,
  • properly cite sources and avoid plagiarism,
  • ensure that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere,
  • disclose all sources of funding and potential conflicts of interest,
  • ensure appropriate authorship and contribution acknowledgment.

Ethical Misconduct and Misconduct Procedures

In cases of suspected or confirmed misconduct (including plagiarism, falsification of data, or unethical research practices), the journal will:

  • follow procedures consistent with COPE guidelines,
  • investigate the issue thoroughly,
  • contact the authors and, if necessary, their institutions,
  • issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern when appropriate,
  • reject or retract manuscripts where ethical violations are confirmed.

Data Integrity and Retraction Policy

If significant errors or ethical breaches are identified after publication, the journal will:

  • publish corrections or retractions,
  • ensure transparency of the editorial decision,
  • maintain the integrity of the academic record.
