In 2001 at AGH University of Science and Technology we launched the Polish national journal “Informatyka w Technologii Metali”. The objective of the journal was to create possibilities of publishing in Polish language papers connected with application of computational techniques in metallurgy and materials engineering. The journal became popular and we were receiving several questions regarding possibility of publishing in English. Thus, during the one of the meeting of the Editorial Board a decision was made to start in 2006 the international Journal “Computer Methods in Material Science”. Inviting the recognized scientists working in the fields of materials science and computer methods to the International Editorial Board of the Journal was one of the decisions. The journal is still published quarterly with an average 60-80 papers per year.
